All about apples, pears, plums, and cherries - and orchards where they are grown

Virginia Gold apple

Bright yellow fruit with pink blush. Crisp juicy flesh with flavors similar to Newtown Pippin. Should be stored to reach peak flavor.

I just picked up bushels of Va gold where I live here in central VA. The apples are huge, crisp, tart and somewhat sweet. They are not as sweet as golden delicious and remind me of Granny Smith. They're great for pies and baking. Ripening may improve flavor. Terrific keepers.
