Visitor reviews
- 05 Jul 2017 METCHOSIN, CanadaI love this pear, you can tell when they are ripe - they fall to the ground - and at that time they are delicious. The ripening period lasts about 3 weeks. They can get biennial if you allow too much of a crop one year, so thin for regular yearly crops, rather than have a huge crop one year and 5 pears the next. I have 8 pear trees and this is my clear favourite for juiciness, flavour, texture and colour. Lasts longer than the Bartlett - but is not a keeper, meant to be enjoyed for three weeks or so a year, and then dried - for enjoyment the rest of the year. Dries nicely, does not have the grittiness of other dried pears (my favourite dried pear too!). This is the one I graft and give to people I really like.
