Story has a dark red skin, and a creamy white flesh. It is not a true red-flesh variety but has some red staining and veins in the flesh, especially near the surface.
It is a late-season variety, ripening in late September or early October in the northern hemisphere.
The flesh is dense and firm, although not crisp. It has a pronounced sweet flavor with little balancing acidity. It has excellent storage potential.
It requires a long growing season, and is best suited to warm and hot summer climates. The trees are easy to grow and prune, but will readily over-set fruitlets so thinning is nearly always required.
This modern variety was developed under the trade name Inored, and is related to Pinova. It has resistance to scab and is well-suited to organic regimes.
