I bought these at Lupiens last weekend, partially for the novelty. I felt they tasted more like very ripe pears than strawberries, with a crisp bite but the flesh was softer than I like.

I just harvested the 1st crop of Daveys from my tree here in NE Pennsylvania. They are crisp, sweet and very juicy. The fruit is an appealing red color, medium-large in size. The skin is somewhat tough. I was unable to discern the distinctive, "hint of strawberry" flavor. In fact, I would deem it to be a sweet apple, not at all aromatic.
