Old tree on our farm. Very good tasting apple. Sweet, crunchy, & juicy. Usually ripens in Sept. Produces very well. It has always been our grown son's favorite apple and now his daughters love it, too. They run to the tree every time they stop in the late summer & early fall to see if the apples are ripe yet! I remember my husband's grandmother picking them years ago & wrapping each one in newspaper. They were put in boxes in a cool store room in our old farm house where they kept quite well through most of the winter. Shirley Coon, Oxford Junction, Iowa, USA sdcoon@netins.net

My parents have a Jonadel tree in their backyard. It's over 60 years old, and is an excellent producer. The apples are amazingly sweet, crunchy and delicious, often forming sugar pockets in the apples. They are a late apple, usually ready in mid to late October through mid to late November. They are great fresh, dried or cooked. I am looking for a bear root Jonadel to plant in my backyard.
