Knobbed Russet apple

Green and yellow fruit, sometimes scarlet streaked in the sun. Uneven surface is overlaid with rough gray and black russet, welts and knobs; worthy of its name. Crisp, rich, sugary, highly flavored flesh of the highest quality.

Must do for us every year. Perfect in pies & we eat out of hand with sharp cheddar.

This apple is the perfect example of why never to judge a book by its cover. This is perhaps the ugliest apple in the world, but the taste is quite good. Nothing spectacular, but it is sweet and pleasant, certainly above average, and has a bit of that pear-like nutty "russety" flavor. Do not be afraid to try this one!
