IMHO this is a great pie apple for the backyard gardener. Firm flesh and the apple crop ripens over a 4-6 week period. This apple is undesirable commercially as the orchards need to harvest the entire tree at one picking. But this is perfect for the home grower that wants to walk out the back door and pick enough apples for a couple of pies or batch of applesauce every week for 4-6 weeks. When I ask apple-knowlege experts to identify this apple, they usually converge on Grimes Golden for taste and texture, so look up Grimes Golden for more info. There is not much info available on this apple.
