Owner's comments

Planted 5/10/14 in a very tough spot with encroaching very vigorous shrubbery from the neighbors yard. Planted to replace a Lubsk Queen in a Belgian fence, the Lubsk was one of the smaller bench grafts I planted and was unable to compete with encroachment. As large as the leaves are on the Lubsk makes me think it's probably triploid so a wild growing spy seemed like it might have a chance with all that. Purchased the tree from Stark Bros., very well grown tree with extensive root development. Sadly the tree was packed very poorly, some shredded paper that might've been moistened at one point but the plastic was not taped or tied to ensure that the roots stayed moist. I believe that all 5 trees are hearty enough that they will overcome this but I expect more from a firm that's been around for 2 centuries.
