Soil:Extremely alkaline clay -- trees grown in area 1 foot above grade after soil washed. Rye grass and bermuda used as cover crops.

Pruning:Prune top to maintain size, prune interior to decrease windage

    6 year olds -- there are two. The one receiving water at least weekly is much larger although in partial shade -- and is the one noted above. The second is in more sun and less water and is about 2 feet shorter -- both are heavy bearers, and almost equivalent in fruit. Need thinning to develop size.
