Owner's comments

About 10 days after "Early Harvest". We love the melbas since they're our first 'real eating' apple. They keep OK (about 3 weeks, longer if refrigerated) for an early apple. Tree is a reliable and heavy cropper, but needs some support as branches are a bit weak and will crack if 'loaded' Winters here are long, have 3 to 6 feet of snow, and temperatures vary, with average of -8 to -15 degrees C., about 10 to 15 days will see -20 to -25 degrees C., and there is usually a damp northwesterly wind off the lakes.
