Owner's comments

I bought this tree for my mother when she moved in to a seaside town on the east coast of Scotland. She moved two years later. I brought the tree to my own garden in 1988. Since then every year we have had a huge crop of large apples, until this year when we had seven apples. I put it down to the fact that the neighbouring bungalow which allowed sun in to my south facing garden was replaced by an 8.6m high house which excludes the sun for most of the day during the winter and early spring.
