Owner's comments

From Raintree Nursery: Reputed in England to be the best late Gage plum, this self-fetile selection claims rich flavor, sweet, juicy, deep yellow flesh and yellow-green skin dotted with white. It ripens in late September and hangs on the tree for several weeks. A favorite since 1843, it is large for a Gage and produces a realiable crop. The compact tree suits small gardens. On Citation rootstock. From Trees of Antiquity: One of the best gages, or old European plums, this is still considered the ideal dessert plum in Europe. Not to be confused with Asian plum called "Green Gage". Meaty flesh with a rich gage flavor and incredible candy-like sweetness. Juicy, smooth-textured amber flesh is also delicious cooked, canned or preserved. Performs better than the old Green Gage in coastal California. Productive and highly recommended.
