We cut out the tents in the spring, that's all the pest control we do.
Fruit starts dropping in late August but we usually wait to harvest them Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend (2nd Monday of October).
They 'keep' better on the tree in the cool fall weather. If we bring them indoors to store in a cool place, they still turn mealy by mid December, so they don't keep well beyond about 2 months.
I store them by coring, peeling and slicing then freezing them ready for baking.
Although they produce every year, the crops alternate between heavy one year and light or medium the next.
