Owner's comments

20130816: After a year of languishing, Tremlett's Bitter has started growing. It hardly had any new growth the past year which I attribute to getting use to the environment. This year for some reason, the tree sprouted branches now measuring about 2.5-3 feet. So if your Tremlett's Bitter is a slow grower the first year or two, don't worry. Let it be and it will start growing eventually. 20130426: Cut out stunted side growth and starting over with this tree. Trying to make it grow upright; it did not grow last year (maybe it was damaged when I planted it; used same soil mixture as the rest of my apple trees). 20120626: Very slow grower. 20120426: Buds finally have started growing. Currently there are only 4-5 new shoots for new growth. I was informed that it is a late bloomer. 20120411: Buds have not broke as other apples have. Is this a late bloomer/grower? 20120310: Sprayed with dormant oil and bordeaux spray. 20120309: Planted a two year old seedling of Tremlett's Bitter. Located a the east end of my apple orchard. Will have Kingston Black and Golden Russet as neighbors (when they arrive). 20110703: Ordered this apple from Trees of Antiquity in July 2011 for Spring 2012 delivery. Purchased mainly for making cider and vinegar.
