The UK National Fruit Collections
We are grateful for the access we have been given over many years to the UK National Fruit Collections at Brogdale Farm, Kent, England. The collections include just under 4,000 different temperate fruit varieties, including more than 2,000 apple varieties. The collections are open the public most of the year (see the Brogdale Farm website for details) and many of our field photos for this website have been taken there.
The National Fruit Collections are owned by the UK Government Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs (Defra). They are maintained by the University of Reading School of Biological Services in partnership with Fast Ltd (Farm Advisory Services Team).
Many of our variety pages also include "official" fruit identification images provided by the University of Reading and published under the UK Open Government Licence.
