Owner's comments

Medium size russet apple, quite unlike any other russet I have tasted - sweet, intense flavour. Actual identification needs confirmation - it was given to me as Pomme Gris. This is a very old French variety, with multiple synonyms, and multiple similar other varieties, (Reinette Gris (etc.), also Rtte. Gris du Canada, Rtte Grise de la Creuse, Rtte Grise de Billon, Rtte Grise de Champagne, etc.) Does not keep beyond Jan., but still excellent eating after it has shrivelled up in storage into the spring. Of all the russets I have grown (Swayzie, Roxbury, Egremont, Golden), this is clearly the best taste. Scab resistant.
