Owner's comments

These seedlings are our own grafts of some locally sourced branches onto M9 interstock. They were grafted in the early spring of 2010 and moved from the nursery into our orchard in early 2011. The odd branches which we grafted onto other, mature trees have shot away (growing approximately 1 metre in the first year and another 2 metres in the second). The main bulk of the grafts (on the M9 interstock) are healthy, but with very much more restricted growth (as expected on that rootstock) and they are currently 1.5 metres tall after 2 growing seasons. We are hoping to see our first fruit from them this summer (2012) and a more substantial harvest in 2013.
