Owner's comments

This garden was derelect waterboard land until 2009 and was once a filterbed with a sandy base. When we purchased the land we brought in new top soil and added lots of well rotten horse manure from a local training yard. The garden is now in it's 2nd season. Half of the land is used for fruit and vegetables and the other half for ornamental trees and and flowers. It is a very windy site and cold in the winter. Hardy apple trees have been bought with this in mind. May 2012. This tree is performing well and we have had apples for the last three years. This year it is full of blossom.
