Owner's comments

This is an inherited tree which had not been pruned for about 2 yrs. and last year's yeild was 3 reasonable fruit. It was heavily pruned and shaped to open up the centre in February to improve the bush characteristics. The area below the tree has a weed control sheet covered with a 2" pebble layer. 2009 This season started with heavy blossom and a good setting rate and from the looks of the progres will have to thin out the crop and summer prune to slow the vigorous growth and open up for better light. After blossoming there was a tendency for a large number of the fruit not to develope properly and eventually rot or fall of the tree. Only about 8 fruit reached maturity and in good or reasonable condition and with very good taste. 2010 Poor blossom level this year, not much hope for the crop this year.
