Tree register

Our Fruit tree register has details of more than 11,000 trees registered by their owners, including blossom and harvest records.

Our website is named after England's most famous apple variety - Cox's Orange Pippin - widely regarded as the finest of all dessert apples. 'Pippin' is an old English word derived from the French word for 'seedling', and like many old apple varieties Cox's Orange Pippin was discovered as a chance seedling.

  • Apple - Cosmic Crisp

    26 Feb 2024
The first Cosmic Crisp I had in 2019 was awful - an almost chemical, unnatural taste, with a waxy outside and a mealy inside. The current Cosmic Crisp is much better. I'd prefer if it was a bit more tart than overly sweet, but still a good quality eating apple.
  • Apple - Bonza

Hi, can I get Bonza Apples in Sydney?
  • Apple - Anna

What is the typical lifespan of an Anna Apple Tree?
  • Apple - Grenadier

    15 Feb 2024
We inherited what I believe was a Grenadier cooking apple tree when we moved in here in Dulwich London I think 60 years old then. It has just blown down after another 50 years . It almost always provided many more great cooking apples than we could eat ( baked and in pies and crumble) and in time to combine with the blackberries also at the end of the garden - . Only problem was that the apples did not keep more than a few weeks, max about a month. I greatly regret its passing - vigorous to the end, despite turning out to be completely hollowed out
  • Apple - Chivers Delight

    09 Feb 2024
Planted in shady sheltered spot in wet Westmorland in 2018 and soon cropped with good sized apples that keep well in cool garage or fridge. Very good, sweet flavour, soft crunch, moderate juice. My favourite eater of three varieties planted together. For a dessert apple, flexible in cooking with meat, in salads and for puddings.
